FAQ
This happens because the bot can only access Plex Servers through URL's that are public. Server URL's should be a wan ip, or a custom domain set up to make your Plex server accessible. If you don't have a custom domain or don't want to set one up you may use your wan ip. This will look something like: http://102.177.167.171:32400
. If you have a custom domain set up, it will look something like: https://plex.yourdomain.com
. You cannot use local ips such as http://192.168.0.25:32400
or else the bot will not be able to access it. For more information go here.
A Plex Server is required to host movies with Mazi. If you have never used Plex before, or don't know where to start this is a pretty good guide and this guide is good too. These guides will walk you through how to set up said server. This is a reminder that a Plex server is not needed to join sessions only to host them! Once your Plex Server is set up and live, you must get the URL to the server. Unless you want to use it through a domain (not necessary), you may use your WAN IP (looks a little like: 102.177.167.171
) followed by the port of the Plex server, which is usually just 32400
. All together it should look something like: http://102.177.167.171:32400
. This would work as a Plex Server URL if one was hosted at this IP. If it is not possible for you to host a Plex Server, you may rent a VPS such as one from DigitalOcean, Giga-Rapid (my hosting provider), or Contabo, and these will allow you to follow the same instructions and host it on the cloud ☁️.
The best solution is to make a private channel with everyone that you are okay with joining the session. You could also host it using Plex, and get everyones emails that you want to add. Other than that, Mazi was made to be open to anybody to join, to remove the restriction of needing to hand out your email to everyone you want to join, so other than those 2 options, there is not really anything you can do.
Yes. It is required. Please read the Mazi Privacy Policy for more information.
Yes. It is also required. This allows for a Plex or Discord to be linked a lot easier instead of one being tied to another. Allows you to link and unlink a lot simpler than if there was no account. Also, it made developing a whole lot easier due to how the bot looks up users and gets information from the database.
There are a few possibilities for this. First, please check the Mazi Bot status page to see if the bot is up or not. If that doesn't work, please check my project uptime page to see if my servers are down. If they are, then please make sure your Discord account has a profile picture attached to it (other than the default discord icon). This actually is required as the embeds need it to send a message. If all of those things don't solve the problem, please make an issue, or contact me.
