CRAN and Bioconductor have Macintosh binaries. The VisionEval packages build without low-level compiler tools (they are "pure R"). VE-Installer uses only standard GNU tools that are readily available for the Mac (and I think mostly pre-installed). RStudio is available for the Mac.
Those ingredients are missing only one thing for the development team to do an actual Macintosh installer: a computer on which to run the build (specifically the build of VE packages themselves).

The Macintosh build is supposed to work under VE 3.0. Somebody with a Mac needs to try it. Volunteers? The build will probably require 16Gb memory and at least 12Gb free disk space.
