Visually handicapped people use devices as follows:

  • shorts swipes on the screen, android will auto-focus on the next focusable element.
  • slowly scan the screen with finger, TTS will ping when there is something.

Suggested plan of attack:

  • Review phone (and maybe tablet) layouts, make sure appropriate things are focusable.
  • Review layouts, give elements a sensible content description.
  • Use TTS to announce changes, also update content description of fields.
  • VERY VERY EXTRA: For vibration, come up with a relatively simple scheme to encode rank + suit of cards.
