Partially solved:
Clients can scan barcodes to enable the wireless, but launching the app should still do something smarter.
Servers without a wireless connection try to start wifi-direct, but fail miserably because wireless is enabled (who knew -.-)

Preferences branch added a 'prefer wifi direct' setting, so servers are okay.
For clients: we need to fix the splash activity to stop autodiscovery.
