MetPy 1.0 Released!

We have finally reached a big milestone: MetPy 1.0, our first "API stable" version has been released! Release notes and upgrade guide are available.

I'm very excited for the increased integration with xarray! Is there a timeline on when MetPy 1.0 will be available through conda for linux machines? I can get up to v0.12 using the cf202003 tag, but haven't been able to install v1.0 (specifically on the ucar/ncar Cheyenne computer).

Hi! So I don't think you should be using the cf202003 tag directly (though I'm not sure if there's anything special about the default conda config on Cheyenne). You should be able to use the conda-forge channel itself to install like:

conda install -c conda-forge metpy=1.0

Ah - I probably should have tried it in its own environment! conda install -c conda-forge metpy=1.0 works just fine, thanks! It just doesn't work with the other packages in my normal environment, while v0.11 and 0.12 do. My bad. :p

Interesting. It'd be interesting to know what the conflicts are.

I was able to install MetPy and xarray with conda install from the default repo - but to do it cleanly I had to re-installed the latest version of Anaconda3 IE (a Dec2020 version). (I did conda install -c conda-forge metpy on 02-22-2021) Thankfully, spyder kept my configurations (I opted for an auto-install/initialize to .bashrc). Even works oob in jupyter.
