new column type: section

We need to add a column type 'section' that is designed to accommodate measured sections that are incomplete transects (e.g., field-measured outcrop or partially cored offshore drilling site).

This could be accommodated in the col_status field, which would allow us to incorporate it into the API with relatively little pain.
