Trying to Tunnel Discord only but no tunnels are in effect #229

So I am in Turkey and with the recent discord ban I am using a VPN but for gaming purposes I want to also be on discord. When I create a tunnel nothing happens or my entire internet connection is gone.
Here is a screenshot of the log showing discord is being allowed and opera is not but discord does not work and I get disconnected, and all other apps are still routing through the VPN. Any help would be appreciated. Here are my settings. |

Have you confirmed Discord works through that VPN in the official windows Wireguard app? |

On second look at your settings I noticed there is no DNS set. DNS requests will not be going through your VPN, and are probably blocked by whatever the Turkey gov has put in place. https://github.com/TunnlTo/desktop-app?tab=readme-ov-file#dns Note that if you do set a DNS, all of your system's DNS requests will route via your VPN. This may affect your games in the way they automatically select region. What games are you using? |

I set the following DNS servers, 172.17.73.39, fd00::1:4927, 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8. The same effect still happened I got disconnected from Discord when enabling TunnlTo. I am playing Valorant, CS, Warzone. Currently with the VPN on I cannot play warzone or Valorant they both block my connection. That is why I am trying to use the tunnel for Discord only. Turkey has some weird blocks going on, they block a lot of stuff. Another fun thing that is going on is if I do not put discord in the allowed list everything still has VPN access, regardless of the whitelist or blacklist. But the second I put discord into the allow section of apps I lose all connection to the internet. |

Hey @brendanosborne I wanted to ask if you are free at any point to talk about this issue because I cannot play a lot of my games currently in conjunction with discord and your app seems like the only solution available. I tried solving this by myself but just cannot seem to find a solution. |

What happens if you remove the allowed apps from your config? All apps should route through the VPN in that case. If not, there may be a configuration issue. Although you mentioned the same config works on the official Wireguard client. Other things to try is to add discord, connect and then flush your DNS cache in case it is still using "poisoned" DNS results from the non-vpn connection. I don't think the official Wireguard client does a DNS flush on startup? I'll have to look into that. You could also try listing just your games in the disallowed apps and see what happens. |
