PS1 performance worse when using HYJiNX187

I followed the guide on retrogamecorps (https://retrogamecorps.com/2021/02/01/review-powkiddy-v90/#Config) . I updated to 1.3.3CFW and updated the emulators by replacing their respective files (NES, SNES,P-SNES and GAMEBOY as per retrogamecorps in the mentioned guide
Performance on the NES, SNES and Gameboy all have noticeable improvement , though the PSX has problems and seemingly had got worse over stock performance. I used the HYJiNX187's PCSX-Rearmed Config Library v1.0, though since many games do not launch . I am guessing the 'HYJiNX187' cfg's are not being applied correctly, since the BIOS option 'HLE' is always selected by default irrelevant of game, is this normal? The BIOS bin options are there but it does not select the one specified within the 'Cfg' for each game, ( I do have the BIOS files as per the guide) . Also there is no GPU options , not sure if normal? Many games (PBP files) do not launch, such as RE1,RE2,Allundura ect, .

Some games do launch like Tony Hawk, however the performance is significantly worse when using HYJiNX187' cfg
I am getting choppy performance at 40-60. I tried a .bin . When I renamed the TonyHawk ROM so that it no longer matches the cfg , the game improved by about 10FPS .

I expected 'Slight frame drop' https://github.com/TriForceX/MiyooCFW/wiki/PCSX-ReARMed. Though with HYJiNX187 I am getting significant drops

Yes, the Allwinner F-series SoCs do not have a 3D GPU so rendering is done in software by the CPU.

Ah, then the bug hasn't been fixed in the version you're using. Most likely it is using the "/emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg/" location, the same as the original build.

As for the "DGE script", this is actually talking about another bug, where if you customise a CFG/settings for a game and save it, the default CFG will be loaded on next launch instead of the customised one. I think this bug may have actually been fixed, and you're using an older build/version of the emulator here.

What the "DGE script" does is that it seems to be a workaround where it copies the currently selected game's CFG to replace the default CFG before it launches the emulator. (Which then loads the default CFG, which is now the current game's custom CFG...) It's a hacky workaround to make sure that the custom CFG is loaded instead of the default settings.

But, as I said, I think this bug has actually been fixed in the current CFW-shipped version of PCSX-ReARMed (so you seem to be using an older version, not a newer one).

I would try both locations, and see where your custom game CFG gets loaded from (when the game's custom settings you've set and saved load). I'm betting on "/emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg/", but it could be "/.pcsx/cfg/", too (depending on the build of PCSX-ReARMed you're using).

I seem to recall my custom game settings being correctly loaded with the 1.3.3 CFW-shipped version of PCSX-ReARMed.

The credits screen within the emulator ( when running ) show Oct 28 2019 R22-88-G3C89130

I have checked this with a discord group , they are telling me its the latest . There are three others there with the same issue , one had solved it but doesn't remember hw .

The Configs are saved ( for games not on the Custom CFG ) they are saved in /emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg

ROMs not launching should not be an issue (unless the ROM dump or BIOS dump is not good). No, the first issue is a bug/oversight in the emulator that puts the ".pcsx" folder at the root of the emulator's working directory instead of at the root of the "main" partition. That's the bug I was referring to. But it looks like it has never been fixed (so far).

So your configs are saved in "/emus/pcsx_rearmed/.pcsx/cfg/". That's where you should put them.

You can try launching a game, changing the core in the settings, and saving the game config. You should see the right CFG file be created, appear in the right location. That's how you'll know for sure where the emulator (build) is saving to and loading the CFG files from.

Well, I may be wrong, but I distinctly remember the CFW 1.3.3 stock/bundled version of PCSX ReARMed (attached) remembering my chosen core settings for each game, and retaining them between launches.

You don't need to delete it, but you could try launching the emulator without it. Nods. Use the "pcsx" binary to launch the program, not "pcsx.dge". You could try temporarily moving the DGE out of the working folder. (Just be sure to update the "link"/launcher in GMenuNX, so you can still see and launch the emulator.)
