Describe the issue

  • What happened: The head of a notch NPC (with the notch skin) is surrounded by a layer of black
  • What were you doing when it happened: Joined my server for testing of NPCs (works fine normally)

Screenshots

video of it happening

Crash log

https://bin.geri.dev/pRyN37unXBxrGfwocc3P -> obligatory not crashing

Your setup

  • Minecraft version: 1.21
  • ModLoader: Fabric
  • ETF Version entity_texture_features_fabric_1.21-6.2
  • Does the issue persist with only ETF installed? Yes
  • Have you checked the FAQ in the Readme, or Discord, to see if it is a known issue? Yes

Notes

The original screenshot, video and logs were with the modpack Fabulously Optimized (though I narrowed it down to ETF being the fault). I assumed 3d skin layers (another mod) to be incompatible with ETF because that's how I discovered the issue, but it turns out that this is an issue completely within the ETF mod.

This does not affect all skins, in fact, Notch is the only skin I have so far observed to be broken.

C418 is also affected.

It dawned on me that this could be because neither of the skins have any 3d layers.

It happens for some player skulls too, except they're white. It seems that disabling the Better vanilla skin transparency option fixes it

Interesting, you are correct. I wonder why.

I'll look into it
