When traveling through interstellar space, it's possible to see solar systems on the view screen. This is good, but the current view isn't ideal for how the view will be used in practice. Here's a few ideas for improvements:

  • Use an icon different from the Flight Director/Navigation view (it's a ring in those views) for solar systems (maybe a dot or diamond or something)
  • Make the icons grow and shrink based on the distance to the system.
  • Show and hide the labels based on the distance to the system.
  • Show and hide the labels based on the direction the ship is facing.
  • Make it possible to control what is being shown on the view screen from another crew station.
  • Show even more information about the systems on the view screen based on what's configured on that crew station.
