I looked in the space above the ceiling tiles, and we have no AC running to that exit sign. If we need to keep the sign lit up all the time, we'll need to have an electrician come out and run a line there.
We also have a sign just above the door opening between the hallway and the front room with the 3D printers.
The sign works. I took it down and wired it into a cord and plugged into the wall.
The battery may or may not come back to life, but it's pretty cheap to buy on Amazon, $15, if needed.
As far as the electrical circuit goes, it was suggested that the scope increase to include all new circuits needed for the shop and new front sign. I'll be putting together a proposal for that soon.
In the meantime, once tested, I'll put the exit sign back up until we have the electricity to support it.
Thanks for the details @john-sanders-2 and @worldpac . Inside leadership, we're discussing the next plans. I plan on the next "Improve the space" to be electrical focused so that we can fix the emergency lighting and get the "dirty space" wired up correctly.
Per the fire marshal inspection we are supposed to fix or replace our lighted exit sign, and keep it working.
