This is the parent issue to track everything that needs to be completed so that members can use the tools in TheLab's "dirty space":

Proposal: Restrict people to only use tools they are approved for:

Phase 1: Restrict access to the tools by restricting access to the "dirty space"
Phase 2: Restrict access to specific tools

Notes:

  • This issue only covers phase 1.
  • To be approved to use the "dirty space", one must sign TheLab's waiver and attended the class

Now

  • Procure Dust Extraction System
  • Create waiver
  • Start collecting waivers
  • Build workbench (in progress by @cloudislands)

Phase 1, Milestone 1:

  • Determine Exit requirement (e.g. Which keyfob reader + door unlock we want to use) - Leadership
  • Purchase keyfob + door lock - Leadership
  • Check fire-code for locking requirements - Leadership
  • Assign techers - @cloudislands
  • Add Waiver info to DB/spreadsheet - Leadership
  • Add Door Access to DB/spreadsheet - Leadership
  • Get area Host volunteer list - Leadership

Phase 1, Milestone 2:

  • Install + Test keyfob + door lock - Leadership
  • Install + Test door exit - Leadership
  • Create Class + content - @cloudislands
  • Schedule 1st class - @cloudislands

Phase 1, Milestone 3:

  • Keyfob + door exit reader live
  • Deliver 1st class - @cloudislands
  • Create attendee list and give to leadership - @cloudislands
  • If attendee has signed waiver and on attendee list, add access to door - @cloudislands
  • Document list of area host responsibilities - Leadership

Phase 1, Milestone 4:

  • Weekly training courses schedule - @cloudislands
  • Ribbon Cutting ceremony - Leadership
  • "Dirty Space" is open to approved members (signed waiver + attendee list)

If you have any ideas for what else to add, please comment on this bug or comment in the #facilities channel in Slack.
