Attempting to boot into twrp 3.3.0 on a OnePlus 5 results in:
adb devices
This happens regardless whether I boot using fastboot boot or flash twrp onto the recovery partition.
fastboot boot
Earlier versions are fine but don't have Treble support and can't install newer versions of OxygenOS.

Installing the latest firmware upgrade from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76943628&postcount=8 seems to have helped; but maybe the need to do this should be pointed out in the documentation?

Similar problem for me. My OP5 is running on Android 7.1.1, and the latest working version of twrp is 3.2.3.
