Feature description

If some Youtube link that contains the well known tracker cookies &si= is open in New pipe, it should show a not obstructive notice about that. Like

The link you paste contains a Trackers. Newpipe remove it. More information about this here.

The more information link will lead to a wiki site that explains what si is. Why it is bad things you can do about it.

By Wiki we invite people to get involved who ever likes may extend or elaborate this textpage.

Why do you want this feature?

The main thing about that is awareness.
Many people don't know or are aware of that tracking s*** going on.

See this notice people might get question: What is that.

The more know, the more will care. Only with joint force we can show that how we are think about trackers

As bonus we may include information for 'better' Internet on smartphone. Starting with use Firefox with an adblocker.

Under additional information I added some text I wrote in German and just let Google translate to English.

Additional information

"Of course 'Internet Explorer' works - only after longer use do you notice that it's just crap." ^-That used to be my saying.

DIY We make the Internet beautiful:
Android 'Smart-föner': It's worth installing Cromite if you're in a hurry and you absolutely need a Chrome / Webkit browser. Cromite has an ad blocker built in.

Or take the 10 minutes to install Firefox. ... and then click on the following "extensions":
#1 UBlock Origin - Against advertising
#2 I still don't care about cookies - Against those annoyed by 'Accept Cookies'
#3 ClearURLs Add-on - Against trackers, e.g. the "..?Si=..." 'track' that likes to hang on YouTube links More about this here: https://t.me/NoTrackingLinks
#4 Decentraleyes - load general Javascript libraries such as jQuery or Angular from the device. Saves bandwidth and protects data
#5 Video playback in the background. So that YouTube (in Firefox) continues to play even when the display is turned off.

Recommendations:
#6 SponsorBlock - skip self-promotion in YouTube videos.
#7 Translate this page (TWP) - extremely useful for pages in Russian or Chinese
#8 Read Aloud - quickly google something on Wikipedia for a friend? Or read a text while driving?! This lets you have it read out.
#9 Firefox Relay - hide email address/protect against spam. For example, enter [email protected] instead of your email.
#10 Extract Video Link - video from e.g. Download X (Twitter) or use it in your favorite player app or on the TV

Don't overlook the "Search for more extensions" in the extension manager at the bottom. And feel free to use the add-on search at the top of the page.

The time spent setting it up is worth it in the end.

... and for the
Apple 'I-föner':
Adblock Plus for Safari (ABP)
After installing, switch it on in Options/Safari/Content blocker if necessary.

The more information link will lead to a wiki site that explains what si is

I don't think such a thing exists, or if it does on a Gist somewhere made by a curious dev, it would likely be a one-off effort and not maintained for long. The problem is that such things are website-specific, not universal web standards, so it would hardly be possible to access internal Youtube docs to figure out what's happening.

On a more important note: please don't ever use the # symbol to number your lists again. You just linked to 10 random issues in this repo that have absolutely nothing to do with the current topic.

I like the idea of making people aware of the tracking happening in the daily actions. However, we should not make this more complicated than it is. And if such a warning is too frequent or attention-grabbing it is going to get annoying for the users. Which in turn brings bad publicity to privacy protecting services.

According to Reddit (comment 1 and comment 2; very credible source, I know...) the si param is a source identifier which is unique to the account logged in when sharing a video. When using the share button without being logged in you get a different param: feature=shared.
E.g. https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?feature=shared

Something that I could image is a dialog that opens once when sharing the first URL to NewPipe that contains tracking params and gives the option to disable the dialog on further shares. Additional stuff that might be done: have a counter for shares containing tracking params and display that value somewhere in the about screen or in some settings that allow to (not) show the dialog.

However, such things are very low priority atm. The rewrite of the app is way more important for now.
