GitHub Notes

To check your own understanding of GitHub, answer the questions that follow.

  1. What is the purpose of GitHub? To be able to work collaboratively and save changes of previous versions of work to revert to or ascertain who edited what portions.

  2. What is the difference between forking and cloning a repository? Forking simply copies the repository, while cloning creates a copy to be edited. These edits can be "pushed up" from your local file to the GitHub repository.
