Lost on the page

When zooming and switching between layers designs sometimes get lost on the page - you have to zoom out to a really distant view to find the design is really tiny in some far corner of the canvas. Once you recentre and zoom in, the new view doesn't stick if you move between layers, you have to repeat the process.
Would it be possible to automatically centre designs when switching between layers and using zoom functions.
