Can't get qbit_manage to remove files during cleanup when running on different machine from qBittorrent

When using the cleanup: true flag, I cannot figure out a way to get the files to delete properly. qbit_manage is running on a local machine and qBittorrent is running on a remote VM. I have tried setting root_dir and remote_dir to nothing, placeholder empty directories, and correct directories (but not accessible on the local machine) but none of these seem to work. Is there any way I can override qbit_manage to just always delete and never do any sort of checking for hardlinks/cross seeding?

Root dir cannot be nothing...the wiki and config example comments are clear.

Configure your config file correctly per the docs and ensure permissions/ownership are correct and it'll work correctly.

That's the thing though, I have tried with just setting root_dir (just a empty folder locally) and it still doesn't set anything to get deleted. Permissions are not relevant because qbit_manage has access to none of the files that qBittorrent is downloading. The docs don't cover this use case at all (the only case that anyone seems to talk about is running qbit_manage with file access to what qBittorrent is downloading).

For anyone coming back to this, there appears no way to run qbit_manage if it doesn't have access to the files that qBittorrent is downloading. I ended up just running qbit_manage on the same device as qBittorrent and everything is working now.

The wiki specifies which commands require what parameters

This section defines the directories that qbit_manage will be looking into for various parts of the script.

Effectively says file system access is required
