Support for .xdat files

Hi! I am working with Allego Neuronexus files (.xdat). Is there going to be support for this file type? I don't see that .xdat files that are already supported, but I may just not see it. Really interested in using this for our data!

Hi, unfortunately they are not supported.
Do you know if there is an open Python library to read them?

You could also reach out to Neuronexus and express your interest in interfacing with SpikeInterface!
Last time we chatted with them, they were not really interested in collaborating, so it might be good to have some Neuronexus users asking for help :)

Thanks for the reply! Not too surprised about that...I'll see if we can reach out to them, but I appreciate the response.

I also do not know of an open python library and through a quick search I couldn't find any :(

And I am guessing the the numpyRecordingExtractor and the NumpySorting Extractor would not work for the xdat files?

@dana-o : also you should open an issue on python-neo because spikeinterface use this package internally to handle several data formats.

Are you able to load them as numpy arrays? In that case they will work, otherwise they won't... :(

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to support this unless they make reading of the files open.

We will add support with these two PRs. I'm going to close this discussion since this is more an issue and we have everything linked up so feel free to follow one or both of these PRs to know when the format is ready for use :)
