how do you start the game

i expect to play but i get nothing

What instructions did you follow? Have you installed Java (from 
http://java.com)? After doing this, have you tried double-clicking the 
micropolisj.jar file? If it doesn't launch the program, what does it do instead?

Hello, seems kind of a duplicated issue.

On can use micropolis\micropolis-java\INSTALL instructions to build and then run the application jar.

One way to start without having to build is using the already java 7 built version made available by Bengrs https://github.com/Bengrs/micropolis/releases/download/micropolis-java-1.7/micropolisj-build-1.7.zip
