How long did the actual restore take? Are the files on the same server or located on a cloud platform?

i didn’t run the restore because it would cause site down time. i downloaded the file and it contains everything needed if we need to restore an old version.

there is a UI on the hosting itself for restoring, but that’s only something we use if we have to.

the backups are not stored in the same location as the actual site (i believe it’s S3 or something similar)

Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. I feel more comfortable now.

But still, if possible I like to install UpDaft, make a clone and save that on Safecast S3 Storage. The remove the UpDraft plugin. So we can always fast recover the website. Just to be safe and have a true "black Swan" option in place. Can we do that?

it's maybe a little overkill, but I'm not opposed to it. there are better S3 backup plugins out there (Updraft is somewhat bloated) so I'll find out which one is the preferred now.

who would have the S3 access to set it up?

@matschaffer should be able to assist.
