In the UTF-8 version of xpp, a simple way to provide an extensible input method would be to support multiple palette menus. These would be specified in the app-defaults file in a similar way to the current palette menu. The existing Palette item in the Tools Menu would change to be a pull-right submenu offering a list of named palettes.
