Good design clarifies the products structure. Better still, it can make the product talk.

Hi, I'm Rhys! I’ve always been incredibly passionate about User Experiences. From your daily email App, to understanding how your kitchen taps are designed (yes I've read The Design of Everyday Things one hundred times!), I’m naturally curious and always seeking the best from the products we use. Every great design begins with an even better story, and hopefully I can be apart of yours someday. Get in touch!

Skill set

  • User Research

    User interviews or Data driven. As they say; A problem well stated is a problem half solved

  • Design strategy and Wireframing

    Information architecture is the fundamental building blocks. Whether is be a catalog, flow or hierarchical structure, design must get this right.

  • Usability testing

    Do not seek praise. Seek criticism.

  • Design systems

    A language a team can understand. Adaptable, re-useable components supported by best practices of user interface design.

  • Measuring the user experience

    Understanding UX at scale. HEART metrics is a fav of mine.

  • Managing and Mentoring

    Mentoring, career development, and upskilling junior-mid designers.

  • Interactions

    Establish a better understanding of spatial relationships and prevent change blindness

  • Expert developer handover

    Designer + developer empathy. An architect understanding how to build a building makes them a more effecient architect. I understand advanced HTML and CSS for web apps.

Me outside work

  • Music

    Whether it be writing or going to gigs, I just love music.

  • Exercise challenges

    The marathon, an Ironman, anything! I'm always chasing a goal.

  • Cooking

    My wife opened my world to the joys and creativity of cooking.

	<h3>From Stylesheets to Polymer Web Components</h3>
	I was lucky enough to present at MelbCSS on behalf of Meetup.com at the wonderful 99design studios.
	The talk included my most recent project that involved moving from a CSS, SASS based, BEM, OOCSS framework, to styling with Polymer Web Components. Web Components come with many benefits like scoping, style encapsulation and variables. With these benefits, we can let go of a few tools we used to compensate for CSS and adapt our skills in a new way.
