RFC: Ping Google's sitemap index with the result at completion. or another endpoint using a hook?

Reading the google docs, I saw today that there is an option to ping google about the update sitemap.xml file.

This could be useful for people who are updating their sites and would like to inform google that it is available.

Don't have it trigger in development mode, make it default to pinging only when the env is production or staging (something similar)

But if they do override, show a way to setup a simple server to see that it works

This would be better done in production.

And also to make sure google doesn't think it's being spammed if someone deployed a website multiple times it doesn't spam the server

Also it would be good to see if there are other services that allow you to tell them of a new sitemap
