  • Proton Bridge was working fine until I installed pass.
  • after restarting machine, proton bridge seems to be selecting pass as the keymanager
  • I am prompted to enter a gpg key and after that proton bridge opens
  • I assume it was using kwallet before the pass installation

Expected Behavior

after restart I do not have to relogin to proton bridge and it selects kwallet as default
OR
after restart pass logs me in (assuming this would involve setting up pass and bridge with some gpg key?)

Current Behavior

After restart pass is used as key manager and I have to relogin every time.

I am having this problem too on OpenSUSE, KDE6. My protonmail credentials are stored in kwallet (SecretServiceDBus) so I don't know why it prompts for a gpg password.
I had to uninstall pass (luckily I don't currently need it for anything) in order for the prompts to go away .

Also, I can't find the setting in Proton Mail Bridge for selecting a credential store anymore. Seems like someone deemed it unnecessary and now users are just nudged to use pass if it's installed.

YES

PLEASE STOP ADDING EMPTY FILES TO MY PASS REPO :)

was difficult to track down which application was doing this...

docker-credential-helpers/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/check

OS: EndeavourOS (Arch)
KDE Plasma 6.2.3
KDE Frameworks/Qt 6.8

Of note: I don't have to relogin to the bridge, it just tries to use pass, and then when I cancel authentication is presumably defaults to kwallet? Maybe kwallet isn't available right away but is available after that happens? Either way that's why I didn't realize it was proton mail bridge causing this.
