Hi @sononicola! Welcome to our community and thank you for the kind words. Initially, Calcpad was created as an internal language for our own products in Proektsoft. We wanted to automate coding and reporting of structural design calculations and it did its job. Then, we decided to release it as a separate project and let the others to use it. Here in Github we have a (still) small but dedicated and active community of professionals. They contributed the developement in the last year by their valuable feedback, testing and sponsorship. So, this prooved to be good for the project. In near future we plan to add vectors and matrices and continue making further improvements. Calcpad will always remain free and open source. We only sell the structural calculations we created with it. Maybe, we can create a web platform that will allow other Calcpad users to develop and sell structural worksheets online. :) |

I discovered this program today and I'm very impressed on how cool it is. I'm definitely want to use it for everything now!
My question is: if we are at 5.8 version, what happened before going open source? It seems like the program and the cloud are appered from nowhere. Or at least I never heard Calcpad like a Mathcad or Excel alternative like Smath or handcalc (python library). So where were you before? And why you decided to come out to the world? 😄
In addition: what are the plans for the future?
