The context: the front end of the Project only indicates that a borrowed item was returned if the relevant lending library card includes a return date. If the lending library card does not include a return date — but instead states "returned" or "BB" (brought back) — the end date is listed as " - ". The end date of items that were not returned is also " - ".

The problem: visitors to the site cannot tell whether an item was returned or lost/stolen without consulting the relevant lending library card.

The solution: for items that were returned, replace the " - " with "returned" or some other mark to differentiate from " - ".
