Evolution Items

Introduction

To accommodate numerous new Pokemon, KEP adds many evolution items to the game, which are made available in various places. A focal point of adding variety to the way Pokemon evolve - but also a very powerful feature - evolution items will likely affect your playthrough in one way or another.

With some Pokemon being the "hold an item and trade" types, we are using Pokemon Legends: Arceus's feature where these items are simply turned into evolution stone-style items themselves. These include the Metal Coat, Protector, Black Augurite, Up-Grade, and Dubious Disc. They are accessible in the main story, albeit hidden away, but are renewable in the post-game.

Keeping prototype content in mind, the Heart and Poison Stones make an appearance from the SpaceWorld '97 demo of Gold and Silver, being applicable to the Pokemon it was originally used for, along with some expansion.

Evolution Stone Glitch, now a Feature!

The Evolution Stone Glitch is being made a feature by moving the Pokemon's constants, making them thematically appropriate for each stone.

The glitch happens by defeating an opposing Pokemon while levelling up the respective Pokemon of your own that wants to evolve. For example, if you defeat an Electivire and level up a Pikachu in the process, it will evolve into a Raichu after the battle. Thus, you have a way to conserve evolution stones and money throughout the game, as long as you know the Pokemon and where to reliably access it.
