[Discussion] Crafting Currencies

Crafting currencies are items that allow you to modify your item with new affixes.

In path of exile they call these currencies as these are also what you use to trade.

A few notables are
Chaos Orb - Reroll a rare item , replacing all affixes with new ones
Exalted Orb - If the item does not have filled affixes, add an affix to the item
Divine Orb - Reroll the affix values on an item - Keeping the tier of the affix
Vaal Orb - Unpredictable rolls the item. Nothing could happen, the item could break, the item could have it's affixes modified, etc

I'd like to be able to having crafting currencies in Path of Terraria as well. It doens't need to be a specific item, or a specific outcome but just the ability to modifier your gear, but making it so it's not free and requires grinding it out. Where the certain crafting materials could be target farmed as well. IE it's not just go get gold, do what you want.

I'd imagine these could drop from certain bosses or stronger enemies (or weak enemies at a lower chance). For example, Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu dropping something akin to a Vaal Orb, which "corrupts" an item, just makes sense.
To adapt it to Terraria a little, we could have different tiers or strengths of these currencies - i.e. Corrupt Orb and Cursed Corrupt Orb, one pre-hardmode and the other post-hardmode - which encourage the player to save time by farming harder bosses. Say Eater of Worlds drops a Corrupt Orb which can do a small set of relatively innocent things, and Destroyer drops a Cursed Corrupt Orb which can do a wide set of potentially very harmful or very beneficial things.
