Recently users have been hit with browser performance issues even though it appears they have turned off their adlbocker via the adblocker settings, and it is the same problem as disabling the adblocker and webpages still detecting the adblocker after page refresh.

In a recent discovery uBlock, for example, was found to still be applying blocking rules despite being turned off for a specific website, see uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues#3083

Note: this happens frequently enough to be noticeable, but not every single time. In my case it happens about 80% in my test runs.

What this means is if you turn off uBlock for youtube.com it might still apply its blocking rules, making it appear that the issue is tied to a different extension such as Iridium.

In order to confirm if Iridium is the reason for any slowness/lag/performance issues on YouTube make sure to disable in your browser addons manager any adblockers or extensions that target YouTube, refresh the page and see if the issue persists.

Seems like things have calmed down or at least it is no longer as evident as it once was.
