Why not all apps can be moved to the external storage?
Developers can allow their applications to be installed on the external storage (for example, the device's SD card). This is an optional feature developers can declare for their applications. If developers do not declare it, their applications will be installed on the internal storage only and it cannot be moved to the external storage. If you find any non-movable apps, please kindly email developers (not us) for details. Visit Contact an Android app's developer for how to contact.
What is the app cache? Is it safe to clear them?
Apps create temporarily needed files called "caches", but afterward, when you don't need them anymore, caches take up space.
Usually, you can open the system settings to remove app caches one by one. Still, the Cache Cleaner function uses the accessibility access function to help you batch clean caches of apps simultaneously.
The app caches are only used for apps to cache some data. When the device is low on internal storage space, Android may delete these caches to recover space; hence it is safe for you to clear the cached files manually. It's also better to clean up these caches regularly; otherwise, your device can collect a lot of junk files over time.
Can all apps be installed on the external storage?
If app uses any of the following features, it cannot be installed on the external storage. It's required by Android system.
App Widgets, Services, Input Method Engines, Live Wallpapers, Live Folders, Alarm Services, Account Managers, Sync Adapters, Device Administrators
You can add apps to the ignore list if you don't want to move them to the external storage.
Will it auto install my apps after switching to a new phone?
This app is not used to backup apps to SD card. It only helps you to move a portion of apps used space to SD card. You have to manually install the apps after switching to a new phone or perform a hard reset.
Failed to upgrade apps that installed on the SD card, or move apps to SD card?
Please first make sure that you are not connecting your phone with PC as an USB disk, then try to upgrade or move the app again. If you still get the problem, it should be caused by the bug of Android system. Please follow the instructions below to fix it (WARNING: These instructions are for advanced, technical users only, use at your own risk):
For Windows users
Mount the device's SD card on your computer via USB
Open the drive for the SD card in Windows Explorer
You should see a ".android_secure" directory, open it. If you don't see this directory, right-click in the Window and choose "show hidden files" (or something like that)
Delete the smdl2tmp1.asec file in the directory. DO NOT delete any other files you see in the .android_secure directory, you may end up deleting your applications and other associated data
For Mac users * Mount the device's SD card on your computer via USB
Look in Finder to see what the SD card is called, often it is called "NO NAME", for our purposes we'll call it $NAME
Open a Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal) window
Type "rm /Volumes/$NAME/.android_secure/smdl2tmp1.asec" REMEMBER: Replace $NAME with the name of your SD card from step 2. If $NAME has spaces or any character that is not a number or letter, it should be replaced with that BACKSLASH and a space, eg. "/Volumes/NO\ NAME/.android_secure/smdl2tmp1.asec" or "/Volumes/I\ said\ "OH\ HAI"/.android_secure/smdl2tmp1.asec"
It takes time to list apps on startup. Can you improve it?
It can be improved by saving apps information. We don't want to take this approach as it needs the extra phone internal storage space for saving the information. We keep improving the loading speed by using another approach.
Do I need to ROOT my phone to use this app?
No, you don't. This app supports either non-root or rooted Android v2.2+ devices.
App icons disappearing from home screen (or change to gray icons) after device rebooted
It's the bug of Android. You can fix the problem by re-mount the SD card.
Launcher > MENU > Settings > SD card & phone storage > Mount SD card
It may also be the bug of Launcher (home screen app). Please install other Launcher apps to see if it helps.
I have two external storages, AppMgr only moves apps to the internal USB storage.
Moving app to SD is handled by Android. AppMgr app only provides an UI for you to manage it. Currently, Android only supports the primary external storage (i.e. internal USB storage) for AppMgr. If you have two external storages, the external SD card usually is the secondary external storage. Android only moves apps to the primary external storage.
I cannot find the "Move to xxx" or "Change" button from application detailed information window.
Would you:
open AppMgr app, tap the side menu icon (on the top left corner)
tap "Move apps" item
tap any movable app
it will show you an "App info" window, do you see a Move button from this window?
If yes, please send us an email and the screenshot of "App Info" window so we can support your device. If not, it means that your device removes the function of moving apps to SD from Android so the moving apps function cannot be supported. It's the restriction of hardware. Please get more information from device manufacture.
If you are using Android 6 or greater devices, please first tap "Storage" item and then tap the "Change" button to move app. Please also make sure that the SD card has been formatted as internal storage by going to: Launcher > Settings > Storage > SD card > MENU > Settings > Format as internal
If you cannot find the "Format as internal" option from your device, please visit http://bit.ly/2CtZHb2 for more help.
What is the small grey SD card with an 'x' on it?
It means that some functions may not work when it's installed on the external storage. For more details, please tap the app icon > Lower-right icon?
Why "Hide apps" and "Freeze apps" items are disabled?
Due to the restriction of Android. These functions are only enabled for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) or greater devices.
Why apps will automatically be unfrozen?
The following apps may be unfrozen:
You add a widget of the app to the home screen
System (built-in) or Google apps. They usually own more system permissions to do that
Android's system bug which will unfreeze apps in some cases
The Clear cache function does not clear cached files.
On Android 8 or greater devices, the system does not enable 3rd party apps to clear cache for all apps, so we have to clear cache for each app one by one.
You may also see the problem of the cache size is not zero even you just cleared it on Android 8 or greater devices. It's the system issue. You can verify it by going to: Launcher > system Settings > Apps > tap an app > Storage > Clear cache > BACK > Storage > you can see that the cache size is not zero as well.
On Android 4.2 or greater devices, the system prevents 3rd party apps to remove some cached files, so you may see few KB cache size left after you clear all cached files. You can check the "Ignore apps with tiny cache" option to only count app that cache size over 100K bytes.
Not all Android versions clear cached files which create on the SD card. You can show the external cache size by checking the "Count app used SD size" option, and manually clean them by tapping the app item from the Cache cleaner window. If the primary external storage is emulated (it means that the storage is allocated using a portion of the internal storage), Android 4.2+ will also delete the cache files of primary external storage when clearing all cache.
It does not automatically clear cache on Android 6 or greater devices
Android 6 or greater devices does not enable third party apps to clear cache. To clear cached data for all apps, you have to open system's Settings window, tap the "Storage" item and then tap the "Cached data" item. For your convenience, the "Clear cache" command will open the system Storage settings window for you to clear cache.
What is the red circle with an 'x'?
It means that this movable app has been added to the ignore list. AppMgr won't show the move app notification for ignored apps. You can remove it from the ignored list by long-pressing the app, then tapping the "Remove from the ignore list" option. An app can be added to the ignored list by long-pressing the app, then tapping the "Add to the ignore list" option. To hide ignored apps from the apps list, please go to: Settings > Hide ignored apps.
Can I uninstall multiple apps without confirmation for each app?
Yes, it can be done on a rooted device. Please first check both "Root access" and "Root uninstaller" options by going to Settings > Root-only functions. Please also grant the superuser permission when AppMgr requests it.
Can I move multiple apps without confirmation for each app?
Yes, it can be done on a rooted device. Please first check both "Root access" and "Root app mover" options by going to Settings > Root-only functions. Please also grant the superuser permission when AppMgr requests it.
The 1-tap move apps function is also available on non-rooted Android 6+ with adoptable storage devices.
It's too slow when moving apps with the root app mover.
The moving speed can be improved by converting AppMgr to a system app. You can use the "/system/app mover" app or other similar apps to convert.
Why do I have to grant the accessibility access permission every time?
The problem is caused by the system power saving, CPU optimization, or task killer function force stops AppMgr in the background which will revoke the accessibility access permission. Please add AppMgr to the ignored list of such function. If you manually force stop AppMgr, the permission will be revoked as well, so system will ask you to grant the permission again when you execute the 1-tap clear cache function. For how to add AppMgr to the whitelist of task killer, please visit http://bit.ly/2EEMD4o.
After that, please reboot the device and try again to see if it works. If not, go to Launcher > system Settings > Apps > our apps > Force stop > open our apps and try again
Why does the app always ask same permissions again after I restart my Xiaomi device?
The problem is caused by Xiaomi devices use different permission settings than the standard Android system. To fix the problem, please visit bit.ly/2rQxy83.
Please also read the previous FAQ to add the app to the whitelist of batter saver.
Why does it display an "Not enough storage space" error while moving apps?
It's the known problem of Android, please visit http://bit.ly/2QQbr0I for how to fix this issue.
Why do some moved apps auto move back to the internal storage?
The problem of auto moving apps back to the internal storage is a system bug. Please contact the device manufacturer for getting the help about this issue.
You can move apps to the SD card without using AppMgr by going to Launcher > system Settings > Apps > tap a movable app > Storage > Change > select the SD card. You should be able to see the same issue when the app gets a new update.
What do the asterisk (), hash (#), at-sign (@), tensor product (⊗), and '[x]' indicators mean?
The app name with either '' or '#' means that it's a system (built-in) app. For the app with a '#' means that you can restore the app to the factory version by uninstalling the update.
The app name with a '@' means that this non-movable app can be moved to SD due to the "Force allow apps on external" developer setting is checked.
The '⊗' indicator means that this app has been added to the ignored apps list. You can edit the ignored apps list by going to Settings > Move apps or Clear cache > Ignored apps
The '[x]' indicator means that some functions won't work after you move the app to the SD card. For more help, go to Move apps > tap the app > Lower-right icon?
I got an error while clearing the cache.
Please follow the following steps to fix it:
Please reboot the device and try again
If it does not work, please email me a log by going to: AppMgr > Settings > App log > MENU > Email. Please describe in email the time when the problem occurred; otherwise, the log email will be ignored by the system
I got an error while batch moving apps.
If the error displays "Failed to find [Change]", please follow the following steps to fix it:
Please uncheck the bottom "Enable Accessibility..." option of move apps window to see if you can move apps manually
If yes, please reboot the device and try again to see if it works. If not, please read this FAQ

If an "app locker" app is installed, please disable it and try again
If it does not work, please reboot the device and try again
If it does not work, please uncheck the bottom "Enable Accessibility..." option of move apps window to see if you can move apps manually
If not, please read this FAQ
Why does it not show me the right place for granting the "Modify system settings" permission?
It's the device bug. Please manually grant the permission by going to:
Samsung devices: Launcher > system Settings > Application manager > top-right MENU icon > Change system settings > switch on for our app
Others: Launcher > system Settings > Apps > "Advanced" toolbar icon > Modify system settings > switch on for our app
What does the Turbo mode option mean?
Turning on this option will speed up the clear cache or the moving apps process. This option is only available for the paid version on Android 8+ devices.
A "Restricted setting" message is displayed while granting the Accessibility access permission.
Some devices do not enable the app to get the Accessibility access permission by default, you can change it by going to Launcher > system Settings > Apps > tap our app > tap the top-right 3-dot menu icon > Allow restricted settings. After that, open our app and you should be able to grant the Accessibility access permission to our app.
