(For starters there is a typo, but that is not important.)
I get this very vague error no matter what, with my own hosted version on my private server AND with the official version. My bitcoins are currently stuck in an unusable wallet, I would appreciate any help because right now it feels like I have thrown away $200.

Issue solved:
"Its a server side problem. Your coins are safe, will be fixed any minute. Sorry about this.
UPDATE: bitcoind crashed and wasn't restarting properly, because of this it was failing to broadcast your transaction. I'm setting up a secondary server to prevent this happening in future. Sorry for any inconvince caused.
UPDATE #2: Everything should be back to normal." - OutCast3K on reddit
