  • Will also remove manual work of changing links from everywhere.
  • Makes sense if it was a template/variable

Noticed after MeetUp 2 registrations were closed.

I had intentionally kept the link there, so that there is an additional and easy way to access the registration page. I did debate on removing it, but I knew that we would close the Google Form once registrations were closed, so I reasoned that we didn't need to remove the link from the burger menu.

The current look of the page when registrations are closed 👇

LMK your thoughts.

easy way to access

I think otherwise.
Why? Because Clicking on Nav and then Register is once eXtRa cLiCk #UX
And, also it is not clear? The CTA? Register for what? Register for MeetUp #2?

The sole reason why proposed to remove it is because we as maintainers/organizers forgot to update it for the second MeetUp. So, I just thought - Is there a 'Need'?

This argument would be valid if that was the only or the main way to register.

The link in the nav is just to go to a general MeetUp registration page. The Google Form on the page will make it clear which MeetUp they're registering for.
Say if you're on the MeetUp no. 2 page and want to go and register for the upcoming MeetUp no. 3, then this would be an easier way to register if they discovered the tiny burger menu. (Why were they on MeetUp no. 2's page if they wanted to register for MeetUp no. 3? Well because they might want to check out other MeetUp events and take a decision to register for the next one.)

The sole reason why proposed to remove it is because we as maintainers/organizers forgot to update it for the second MeetUp.

Ah dammit. I had initially thought that we would keep modifying the same Google Form, which is why I had done this. (I can't believe this was not changed for MeetUp no. 2 though. Did we directly share the Google Form link for registration? If yes, why!?)
I think there should be a conscious effort to change the form every time, as https://meetup.ourtech.community/register is intended to be the main link for registration.

So, I just thought - Is there a 'Need'?

This might be solved by adding a registration link to every MeetUp event's page. So I don't know if there is a need to have one place to access a registration form, but it just feels like a very standard thing to have one link every time so that people don't need to keep a track of the MeetUp number in case they want to quickly verbally share the link with someone or something like that. What do you think?
A wild solution is to make this a web app and add functionality to change the iframe link through an admin portal (like we did for CatchUp event meet links), but that is overkill IMO.
