undefined symbol: oidc_authz_match_claim

Hi.
I have built mod_auth_openidc.so (seemingly successfully) on RHEL 8 with apache 2.4.52 and also on RHEL 7 with apache 2.4.57.
Both had the same issue.
When I tried to stop httpd, I received the following:

Cannot load modules/mod_auth_openidc.so into server: /opt/app/nagios/apache/modules/mod_auth_openidc.so: undefined symbol: oidc_authz_match_claim

I can't find any help anywhere online.
I am really hopeful someone here can help me resolve this.
