Although the vignette describes the process of translation, for the end user, really all they need to know is what SQL they should write so it runs properly on all platforms. In effect we have created yet another SQL dialect, which has been referred to as OhdsiSql. I have tried over the years to force this dialect to be consistent with SQL Server SQL, so most of the time users could rely on SQL Server's syntax reference. However, we only implement a subset of SQL Server syntax, and there are some differences (e.g. the --HINT pattern).

Would it make sense to create a new vignette that just described OhdsiSql syntax as if it were its own language? So something like SQL Server's syntax reference?

If we decide to do this, perhaps we could borrow from this resource.
