System Information

  • Ogre Version: 13.6.1
  • Operating System / Platform: Ubuntu 20.04
  • Blender Version: 3.4.1

Detailled description

I was trying to install the add-on using the /Edit/Preferences/Add-ons/Install menu (selecting io_ogre directory) - nothing happens.

Thanks in advance.

No, that is not the way to install the add-on.

I'm sorry but it does not install in such a straigthforward way.

Here are the instructions: Installing blender2ogre

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response!
I did actually try installing according to the README, however on Ubuntu Blender add-on directory is part of the snap read-only file system, so it's impossible to copy there the add-on directory. Doing this gives the following error:
cp: cannot create directory '/snap/blender/3132/3.4/scripts/addons/io_ogre': Read-only file system

Are you able to install other add-ons besides this one?

I haven't tried to install any other add-ons.
However, now I tried to zip the io_ogre directory and to install it using the menu - this seems to succeed.

Can you try to find the directory where it was intalled, I have read here: How to update addons shipped with Blender (ubuntu)?

Apparently, it seems that Blender has 2 separate directories for add-ons (for Ubuntu at least)

Probably the snap package has two add-on directories: one that is read-only for the preinstalled add-ons and one that is writable so it is able to install new add-ons.

If it is like that, then I can update the README install section with this case.

Hi,
Yes, it was installed here: ~/.config/blender/3.4/scripts/addons/io_ogre.
The install also created a .pickle file here: ~/.config/blender/3.4/config/scripts/io_ogre.pickle.
Hope it helps.

For flatpak the dir is ~/.var/app/org.blender.Blender/config/blender/3.6/scripts/addons.
