For a while I was using element-desktop-wayland on a GNOME Wayland session as the name suggested that one should use it when on Wayland. If I remember correctly, the other package element-desktop used to not start correctly on Wayland.
As I recently had troubles to log into my matrix account with element-desktop-wayland, I gave element-desktop another try. As of now, it works fine with Wayland and seems to be more up to date.
This leaves the question: Is the separate package element-desktop-wayland still required or can we remove it?
No maintainers
On the package search, there are no maintainers assigned to element-desktop-wayland. Is it orphaned or do the element-desktop maintainers care for it?
Should we remove element-desktop-wayland?
The package search for element-desktop returns two packages:
element-desktop
element-desktop-wayland
