Check if the mysqldump is compressed already and, if no, compress it.

I am not sure, if this is really the timesaver her.
My directory /var/lib/mysql/pi is 24MB.
The mysqldump results in 1,5MB, which should not be the hassle to transfer.
So I am wondering what is the bottleneck after all.

Well - compressing might not hurt. We do not compress at the moment:

Hm. You're probably right -- I've set this to low priority.
Would be really interesting to find out the actual performance bottleneck though.
