What are your thoughts on complete new Droidify?

It will have many ui changes, it might never come too even I dont know.

Rewrite from scratch, I know many of you are fans of Old-school Foxy droid because of its UI but cant use it because of no updates.
Currently the codebase is little outdated and need some radical changes.
And personally for me it is easier to work from scratch rather than updating existing code.

If majority of the vote goes for updating current project then I will do so.

Keep in mind it got to Izzy f-droid repo this week, so most new people learnt about project (including myself) just few days ago :)

Anyway really up to you, we'd definitely like to get long-term supported app and if you think rewrite will help you reach this then definitely go ahead (after download all is added to current one, please please) :)

fdroid/foxy droid/droid-ify seem like simple apps to code. Therefore, starting from scratch is a real possibility. I only care about the end result.

Just one thing: if you start from scratch, please make the code well structured and documented.

I am not specifically a fan of the classic fdroid interface. I just hate the new interface.

Ya the code is very badly structured I agree
Aurora droid is better in this aspect atleast but even it is not that good in terms of package structure

As someone mentioned, probably very few people are aware of this now, but more will maybe become aware if this gets in the main F-Droid repo.

I think something some of us will struggle with is if this gets started from scratch then we might not have updates for a while.

To be honest, my vote would be something like this for selfish reasons: implement #3 then start from scratch.

Maybe get a roadmap thread pinned as an issue where we can vote on what features we would like to see, and in what order?

The current version is very usable as is, but I'm not a developer so if there are things that can be done to help people fork this and contribute, and if that involves writing from scratch, then so be it.

My verdict: Sometimes hard things are better.

I will continue this project

If you decide to do this someday, the best addition would be to support lower android versions. I don't know if it's possible while keeping the fancy UI, but many more devices would be able to install it

@another-sapiens we won't be able to get lower than SDK21 without enorm extra maintaineness time (parallel layouts, styles etc..). So that won't be

And for the discussion:
Since couple of days we talked things out and we'll be co-maintaining the project. The restructuring works are already on way and we are hopeful considering the future of the project.

SDK21 is perfect! I meant to say "lower than Android 9"
