You can find an example of setting a timeline to autoadvance every five seconds here.

TimelineJS is not under active development, so we do not have current plans to implement an autoplay feature which can be activated merely with an option. Adding a simple autoadvance parameter, perhaps which specified the delay in milliseconds, would be straightforward, and we'd consider merging a pull request that implements that.

Anything more fully featured, including implementing play/pause controls or giving viewers control over the speed seems like a more ambitious effort. It would be best to discuss implementation details here in GitHub before investing a lot of energy in preparing a pull request that tried to implement a more fully-featured auto request.
