!! On 4/21/22 API v2 will replace API v1 - with default changes

On 4/21/22, the REopt API will be transitioning from v1 to v2. This will impact several default values for users of both the API and the web tool user interface. The change in default values is the only change that impacts REopt users.

The default value changes will impact your results if you typically use any of these default values in either the API or web tool.

These are the default values that will change with v2:

• Discount rate from 8.3% to 5.64%
• Electricity cost escalation rate from 2.3% to 1.9%
• PV System capital cost ($/kW) from $1600 to $1592
• PV O&M cost ($/kW/yr) from $16 to $17
• Battery Energy capacity cost ($/kWh) from $420 to $388
• Battery Power capacity cost ($/kW AC) from $840 to $775
• 10 yr Battery Energy capacity replacement cost ($/kWh) from $200 to $220
• 10 yr Battery Power capacity replacement cost ($/kW AC) from $410 to $440
• Wind O&M cost ($/kW/yr) from $40 to $35
• Wind System Capital costs ($/kW)
  • Residential (0-20 kW) from $11950 to $5675
  • Commercial (21-100 kW) from $7390 to $4300
  • Midsize (101-999 kW) from $4440 to $2766
  • Large (>=1000 kW) from $3450 to $2239

To summarize the v2 transition for API users:

• currently we have https://developer.nrel.gov/api/reopt/stable = https://developer.nrel.gov/api/reopt/v1
• the release of v2 will make https://developer.nrel.gov/api/reopt/stable = https://developer.nrel.gov/api/reopt/v2
• if API users do not want results to change / want to use the old default values, then they should use https://developer.nrel.gov/api/reopt/v1

Note that both v1 and v2 will be supported through September 30, 2022 (they use the same exact code, except for the default value changes). After September 30th we will transition to another new version (perhaps called v3, unless other versions are added before 9/30/22), which is documented under the new-job-end-point wiki page. Please note that although this wiki page uses the names v1 and v2, those were just placeholder names used in describing these future changes and they do not refer to the current "defaults only" v1 to v2 change.
