With images that don't have a 1:1 scale like album covers a black background is shown and looks ugly.
When using a movie poster/cover image with a scale 3:4 both left and right side of the image have a black bar. With fanart/screen capture images that are 16:9 both top and bottom are presented with black bars.
When presenting images in the listview that have a scale of 1:1 it's not visible as the black background is 1:1 as well. (1:1 = square)

Thanks for the details. Looks like an issue with transparency of images but on the Brain firmware side not on the SDK side.

I can set some of these images as channel favorites, just to see what happens. would this be beneficial?

No need, I think we already know what the problem is. The images for the remote are preprocessed (resized, optimized, ...) as part of that we should have transparent background if the resized image doesn't fit the final target.
I'll keep this open for now in case we have a work around for it on the SDK side, if it's on the Brain side I'll close this as we're already tracking the bug internally.
