Running Dozer on Sonoma (macOS 14.0) #186

Same here. In my experience, Dozer quits each time the screen is turned off. |

Actually, I don't think it is related to screen off, but rather screen locked. You can just lock with |

I did some digging. This is native masOS crash report. Can be accessed through the console app. |
Nope not working for me. |
Also not for me. Worked for a while after a reinstall and then crashed again |
Not sure, but looking at the Homebrew formula for Dozer I don't think it does more than replacing the old Dozer.app in the application folder with the new one and pruning this two folders. |
It stops working after sleep. Even if it sleep for 5 seconds. |
@Linyxus Want to see screen recording? |
Sonoma 14.0 - Dozer quits each time I put my Mac to sleep. Tried solutions mentioned above and nothing solved the issue. |
Same issue here. Same crash log. |

Problem persists for me as well after re-installing. |
Same issue here. Noticed that it happens right after clicking on the desktop. |
Hello, this app is not working for me either on an M1 Max MacBook Pro running MacOS Sonoma 14.1. I don't know much about Github and I'm new to open source. I want to financially support open source and support people who develop transparent apps. Is it allowed to donate somehow to the app or to create a feature request and a "tip jar" that can accumulate money for a user-desired feature? For example, is there a place where we could say "Get Dozer working with MacOS 14.0" and users could pledge money they would pay for that feature? It seems like that would be an awesome way to encourage development and support the developers. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'd be willing to contribute some money to keep this app alive. |
Installing the 4.2.0 pre-release seemed to fix it for me. |
Worked for me too |
Not fixed here...Do I need to remove all plists?

@bsdooby: Did you try to setup a Launch Agent according to the above post? If yes, I would suggest to Additional steps you can try is to fully uninstall Dozer by adding the |
I installed from the above DMG (4.2.0). And removed plists and other files before re-installing. |
I did untick all options and re-ticked them (as proposed by Big Lecodesk).
Maybe this helps...(right now, even after a sleep, Dozer's taskbar bullet
icons are there!). Will let you know after some more testing.
|
Nah, after a restart and couple of days it's back. |
okay, it seems I fooled myself with the above launch agent; neither works for me |
Any news about this? I noticed that is not only when you lock the screen, but each time you click or see the desktop. If you press Fn + F11 it will crash, and if you try to reopen it while focused on the desktop it will open and close immediately. |
I switched to the Hidden Bar app. It works pretty much like Dozer but without any problems. |
Yep, use hidden bar. I made the switch and have no regrets, it's basically the same thing. |
+1 for Hidden Bar. can install via homebrew Safe to say this is no longer being maintained by the developer. Dozer does not have a commit made within the last 2 years. Further proven by the lack of activity by Mortennn in this issue. |
I don't know all that is different about my configuration from when I commented above, aside from maybe that I'm now on Sonoma 14.3.1, but I have no further issue. Dozer is working just fine for me with no issues for months now. All other things being equal, the benefit of Dozer is the MPL license. |
I am not sure whether it works (again) 100 % . I will chech; but the
situation seems less dire.

I have reinstalled Dozer and tested. This is not working for me... Unsure of the differences in configuration. I am using m2 macbook running Sonoma 14.3.1, and 1 external monitor. |
The downside is that there haven't been a single codechange in the dozer repository for almost 3 years. The codebase is basically abandoned at this point. I'll take "actively maintained" over nice license any day. |
Yeah fair enough. I don't have any issue with people using that which pleases them. I was just pointing it out as the only clear benefit. That benefit could manifest in anybody forking the project and beginning to maintain it. I have less motivation as it is, perhaps miraculously, working for me. I will add that there is work happening on a seemingly related topic #190. Maybe one day, this issue will be resolved. In the meantime, people need to use what works for them. |
It wasn't clear to me on the App Store page for Hidden Bar, but I found this repository and it seems Hidden Bar is licensed under MIT, so... I guess that advantage doesn't really exist. It doesn't have any commits in the last two years, but that is a lot more recent. |
On my MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), Dozer starts and works but after a "few" minutes it just quits.
No error trace visbile (however, I did not check the logs, etc.).
Is this known or does this only happen on my machine?
