Programmatically checking for Runtime update

My sample project might be out of date (not downloaded it from GitHub in a long time.

I has this code:

1. Is this feature still in the experimental stage?
2. When I run it it simply says:

This message seems odd.

Please clarify as I feel this to be a very useful feature to let the user kickstart the updating of the Runtime as opposed to repeatedly answer their questions as to how to do it and / or if they have issues and it is the resolution.

I have found this link:

And it implies this is still not stable. Right? But the C# in that link does it differently:
