This is intentional, actually - I implemented it in order to test finishing missions faster. I will probably add it behind some debug command in v0.3.2

On second thought, I think I'm going to postpone the addition of debug commands until a later version, perhaps v0.4.0. For now I'd like to focus on getting bugs in v0.3.1 fixed.
