Console model

Describe the issue

Hello,
I only get black screen when trying to play PS1 and PS2 backup discs. It won't play original discs from other regions either.
I've tested Retail-DEX Asia multi 7, USA multi 7, Taiwan and versions 1.01, 3.0 RC3 and RC4 with the same result.

Any clue what could be wrong?

First, you didnt provide nvram backup, its hard to say how messy your nvram now is.

I always reverted back to original state before I installed a new version. The last time I accidently overwritten the nvram, the attached file could therefore be corrupted.
If it is corrupted, do you happen to have a clean file? Or is it machine bound?

Try to restore this dump and install this version.

Thank you! I was able to restore it with no problem.
This is the result from my testing with the new provided MechaPwn version and have chosen Retail-Dex Asian 7 multi:
Black screen:
PAL PS1 & PS2 backup discs.
PAL PS2 backup disc from uLaunchElf get error "Failed CDVD 0x05"
PAL PS1 original disc.
NTSC-U PS1 backup disc.

Works:
NTSC-J PS1 backup discs.

That's about all the discs I have availible right now. I can make PS2 backup disc if it will rule something out. Should I restore and test Taiwan would that make any difference?

First, PS1 games will only work with Japan region backups due to that fact that 70k still has region lock. Doesnt matter if they are originals or backups. So, yes, only NTSC-J for PS1. This can be bypassed by using swap disks, I advice to search for ImportPlayer Lite Jap version.

Second, as for PS2 titles, this is tricky. Asian region should be region free, so you should be able to load all region titles. But as you get black screen this can be either that PS2Logo check doesnt pass. I advice to check NTSS-U or NTSC-J region PS2 Ttiles.
Also it can be that your TV doesnt handle video mode properly and just doesnt output PAL signal.

Also, you have mechacon 6.2 that has serious bug in its firmware, so it can affect also games. I mean that for example it will break DVD-Video for you (I think it is not big deal for you :) )

I thought I would be able to play PS1 all regions?
"On SCPH-500xx and SCPH-700xx: BOOT PS1 disc originals from all regions" it says on first page but maybe I'm missing something?
I'm in Europe and have had all region PS2 consoles and TV has never had a problem (PAL are my main consoles). Now I usually use Breaker Pro swap disc but I imported this console just to patch it with MechaPwn so I could skip that step :) I'll test with a PS2 NTSC-U/J backup DVD would be interesting to see if that works.
