Checks

  • I provided nvram backup file
  • I provided sticker photo

Console model

SCPH-77004

Describe the issue

PS2 slim 77004 converted to DTL-H77004, then tried DTL-H77000, DTL-H77001, DTL-H77002, DTL-H77003.
It always has issues reading NTSC-J discs (both PS2 cd/dvd and PS1 games). ("This disc could not be read" error)
In some configurations PAL discs got the same error too. The best try was with DTL-H77001, it reads PAL and NTSC-U games.
(It tried with the very first MechaPwn release and the last one)

Please restore nvram with restore backup option. Then reinstall mechapwn with mechapwn 3.0

Hi, thanks for your help.

I just restored my backup and then install Retail-DEX (Europe) using mechapwn 3.0 RC4.
Here are the results :

  • NTSC-J PS1 CD : read error
  • NTSC-J PS2 CD : read error
  • NTSC-J PS2 DVD : read error
  • PAL PS1 CD 👍
  • PAL PS2 DVD : read error
  • NTSC-U PS2 DVD 👍

Thats strange, by PS2 DVD you mean PS2 DVD game, correct? It will be nice if you can test some original PS2 game from any region.
Its suspicious that most of these reports come from 77k (b) revision. It really looks like dying laser, but why it affects only specific revision.
