Crafting grid craft8 button only crafts 7 in certain cases

As far as i can tell this only applies to items that do not stack at all.
I found out when i made a line of 16 crates, and used the storage tablet (storage scanner also has this same issue) to craft 2x 8 netherite chisels to put one in each crate. At the end of the line i was 2 chisels short. After crafting 2 extra and doing another line of 16 crates (i had view chunk borders on so i know for sure it's 16) i also was 2 short.
Either it actually only crafts 7 or the 8th chisel gets crafted but not put in my (or the storage system's) inventory and i can't find it in the input/output slots of the storage tablet either.
