Description of the desired feature:
I am inquiring about the possibility and method of implementing support for German tags in LibrePhotos via language learning models (llms). The enhancement I envision allows LibrePhotos to automatically tag photos with German language tags based on their content. Currently, landmarks or specific locations are recognized and tagged primarily in English. An extension of this feature to include commonplace settings or rooms, such as "Spielzimmer" (playroom) or "Kinderzimmer" (children's room), in German would be highly beneficial. For example, while a playroom is currently tagged as "Playroom," it would be more useful for German-speaking users to have it tagged as "Spielzimmer."
Why this feature would improve LibrePhotos:
Incorporating German tags through llms would significantly enhance the user experience for German-speaking users by making the photo tagging feature more relevant and accessible. It would also improve the organization and searchability of photos based on locale-specific and language-specific tags. This feature could be particularly beneficial for users who primarily operate in a German-speaking environment or have a photo collection featuring places, objects, and activities more commonly described in German. By recognizing and tagging specific scenes, objects, or locations in German, LibrePhotos can become a more inclusive and versatile tool for a wider audience.
Additional context:
Adding support for multiple languages through llms could open the door for more localized and accessible tagging features, starting with German as a pilot language. This enhancement would not only cater to the needs of the German-speaking LibrePhotos community but could also set a precedent for future localization efforts, making LibrePhotos a more globally accessible platform.
