Having the light cantrip is not deemed a valid light source by Torch

Please indicate what version of Foundry you are using and what system and version you are using. I want to see if I can track this down. Also please export your actor from the Actors panel and attach a copy of the JSON export to the issue so I can look at it and try to reproduce what you are seeing here.

You say this is 5e, so If this is happening to you in English, it shouldn't be happening and I would want to understand it fully and correct the problem.

However, one possible cause with a quick solution occurs to me:

  • If the light source name on your actor doesn't match the English name "Light", it won't see it, because Torch matches on character-identical names. To work around this, you can supply a light source file that aliases your actor's light source name to an English light source name for the system that Torch knows about.

Does your situation sound like this might be it?
