Not sure if you're already aware of this, but on Core Foundry 0.8.5 using the dnd5e system v1.3.2 I get these error notifications when I try to enable The Furnace:
It says that these dependencies are not installed:
initiative-double-click
dfreds-droppables
split-journal
I have uninstalled and installed The Furnace 2.6.0 a few times from Foundry's package browser, after which it can be updated to 2.6.1. Not sure what's causing it, there are no error messages in the console. Version 2.6.0 seems to work better, so I've ended up not updating to 2.6.1 in the end.
Edit: So I just looked around in the JSON file and see that these dependencies are actual (if rather new) modules. I'll try installing them and enabling the Furnace after that.

Well, I just decided to actually read the README. 🤦
It didn't occur to me that the Furnace was split up into smaller modules.
To prevent anyone else from making the same blunder, I'll change this issues' title, without closing it.
